DepartmentofStatistical
Sciences
Head of Department: Associate Professor
Christien Thiart
Departmental Profile
Statistical sciences are defined to include the traditional
concepts of statistics as well as allied areas such as
operation management research and decision modeling.
The department is located academically in both the
Faculties of Science and Commerce. Research within the
department covers econometrics and financial modeling,
biodiversity modelling, mathematical and theoretical
statistics, operational research, reliability and geostatistics.
